How PainTheory can help you find relief
How to get started with PainTheory
Step 1
Complete a short online questionnaire
Answer a few questions to find out if you’re a good candidate for spinal cord stimulation.
Step 2
Talk with a Care Coordinator to schedule a visit
Schedule a brief 10-minute call with a Care Coordinator ask questions, learn about treatment, and start the scheduling process.
Step 3
Visit your specialist discuss moving forward with a stimulator trial
At your consultation, your doctor will assess your medical history, discuss relevant treatment options and answer questions about spinal cord stimulation and other treatments.
- If you are not a candidate for spinal cord stimulation, your provider will discuss other treatment options they offer.
Step 4
Test out your stimulator for a week
The trial is a simple, outpatient procedure that takes about 30-minutes in the doctor’s office.
Thin, flexible wires, called leads, are placed under the skin and next to the spinal cord.
For one week, you can wear a temporary stimulator, customized to reduce your pain.
Finally, assess the pain relief and improvement to your daily activities with your doctor to determine if a long-term implant is right for you.
Step 5
Get your long-term implant
If you experience significant pain reduction and functional improvement during your trial, you can move forward with a long-term implant.
The long-term implant takes place during a quick and minimally invasive procedure, where a small stimulator device is implanted under the skin, just above the beltline or in the buttocks area.
Recover over 6-8 weeks and enjoy long-term pain relief.
